History
Westex, Inc., established in 1919, is a world leader in flame resistant fabrics. With over 50 of experience in the manufacturing of flame resistant fabrics dating back to World War II with innovative technology commissioned by the U.S. Military. Over the past half century Westex has earned the reputation of developing the most advanced systems, equipment and technology in the evolution of flame resistant cotton and cotton blend flame resistant fabrics.
In 1987, Westex, Inc. began a major research and development program that resulted in an advanced proprietary technology of the INDURA® brand fabrics. The Advanced INDURA® technology combines custom engineered equipment with additional proprietary processing steps at nearly every stage of the engineering process. The superior INDURA® technology has led to the market proven guarantee of flame resistance for the life of the garment in both home and high temperature industrial laundry systems used in both the original INDURA® and advanced INDURA® Ultra Soft® flame resistant fabrics.
Today, Westex, Inc.’s primary business is the production of the INDURA® Ultra Soft® and INDURA® flame resistant fabrics. With the most experienced technical staff in the industry and a government certified laboratory, Westex, Inc. is focused on the preparation and testing of flame resistant fabrics. Westex continuous involvement in industry committees, through NFPA and ASTM, has spanned decades helping develop standards to protect employees from electric arc, flash fire and molten metal hazards. Westex, Inc. has conducted thousands of tests to industry standards at independent laboratories evaluating the performance of flame resistant fabrics.
